Il Torrione is a charming 3 bedroom apartment rental sitting on the ground floor of a protected historical building in the unspoilt medieval hamlet of Radicondoli, in the province of Siena. The house has been beautifully restored with great attention to detail by the owners who have kept the typical Tuscan beamed ceilings, terracotta floors and stone walls whilst adding all modern comforts and an elegant touch. Il Torrione is a perfect place for those wanting to really savour the full Tuscan village life experience without having to give up on sightseeing or beach day trips. Radicondoli is in fact about an hour away from beautiful art cities like Florence, Siena, S. Gimignano and from the beautiful Tyrrhenian coast.
Notes on accommodation
The apartment is accessed through an independent gate on a lovely panoramic patio. Off a vaulted corridor are the two double bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, one of which with Jacuzzi steam bath. The corridor opens into a bright and airy fully fitted kitchen which hosts access to the beautiful tower, now a cool, relaxing lounge with music and television.
The corridor also leads into the dining room, off which sits the twin room and direct access to the panoramic garden on the village walls, also accessible from the kitchen and the lounge.
Outside
The garden, full of flowers and fruit trees, is equipped with a large wood oven and BBQ, table and chairs.
Notes on the area
Fantastic weather from May to October, May and September being the very best months to enjoy the natural setting, the sunlight and temperature. Radicondoli and Belforte are perfectly preserved Medieval villages that have kept their character and very lively community. This area is in fact one of the few still authentic and unspoilt parts of Tuscany, away from the limelight and off the beaten track. The village is very close to stunning art cities like Siena, Florence and S. Gimignano, but immersed in wild nature.
Radicondoli is a picturesque village, set high on the hills of the Colline Metallifere, offering breathtaking views of the valleys around - stretching as far as Volterra and S. Gimignano. It has a very strong identity and a very lively community.
Throughout the year many village feasts liven up the otherwise quiet lifestyle. The village brass band is a gem. Events worth mentioning are 1 May, S. Giovanni on 23 June; the famous Drama Festival from 27 July to 12 August which attracts Italian and International artists.
