Il Doglio is a large, elegant country house in an unspoilt valley overlooking the Tuscan medioeval village of Belforte, just over 30 minutes drive from Siena and less than an hour from the beautiful beaches of Punta Ala, Castiglione della Pescaia, La Strepaia.

The village is served with a bar/restaurant, a small grocery, the post office and newsagent.

As a private country house, il Doglio really works best as a place where friends and family come to relax, share meals, explore the countryside and drink wine late into the night. It is also ideal as wedding or vows venue.

Worthy of note is that the house has no noise restrictions or curfew – being set at the very end of a private road enjoying total privacy and lovely, relaxing views. It is also but a 20 minutes walk to the village of Belforte and a few minutes motoring from Radicondoli.

The holiday rental villa is very large, sleeping up to 12 guests in 6 bedrooms , several lounges, verandas and a large salt water swimming pool.

The house develops over 2 floors, with bedrooms on the first floor and a very large living area on the ground floor.
It is accessed from a large vaulted dining room with toilet. From here you get into the large kitchen (fully fitted with all appliances) which has direct access to the garden and Limonaia veranda (equipped with table and chairs for eating and for children playing/colouring).
Always from the entrance room you have direct access to the ground floor 2 lounges, equipped with sofas, coffee tables, music. The large lounge has direct access to the panoramic solarium.
The large entrance room also leads to the upper floor through the staircase.
On the first floor there is a very large master bedroom, a smaller double bedroom and a twin bedroom. All rooms have a private bathroom.

The house features an extensive library with thousands of titles in English and Italian ranging from Politics to Arts, Fiction and Travels.

Between the house and the pool there is an independent annexe with a two bedrooms and a bathroom. This aneexe is ideal for families with small children or for those in the party who desire more privacy.

By the pool there is a studio with a large room hosting two single beds, cooking facilities and a large bathroom with shower. This can be used as relaxing spot/breakfast room, or as a twin/triple bedroom.

The 10x5 metre salt swimming pool is gated and equipped with automatic covering, to keep the warmth in at night. By the pool there is a covered pergola, a bathroom with shower and cooking facilities.

A holiday at Doglio is a peaceful retreat for the soul yet offers interesting day trips within one hour motoring away.

Nous avons été enchantés par notre séjour à Il Doglio. La maison est parfaitement équipée pour offrir le meilleur confort aux grands et aux petits. Mme Carega nous a été d'un grand secours quand on avait besoin de régler quelque chose, très serviable, elle a répondu à nos demandes.
Bien qu'en août, le temps était très chaud, la maison gardait la fraicheur et nous avons passé aussi bcp de temps dans la belle piscine. La région est splendide et nous retournerons certainement une prochaine fois en Toscane et pourquoi pas à Il Doglio! Merci

Everything worked fine down in Italy.

I (and we) would really like to say THANK YOU. You did a great job for us beforehand. We all enjoyed our holidays staying at this beautiful house (exept this really bad road out there) ;-)

And we had them all: wild boars, viper snakes, scorpions, porcupines.
But nothing happened ;-)

Our stay at Il Doglio was magical. From the gorgeously maintained house, pool house and guest house, to the well-equipped kitchen, everything was there for a week of relaxing, dining and being together. We loved the antiques and the incredible library. At the end of a long hot day of touring, it was a real relief to see the cypress trees of Il Doglio at the end of the road! Thanks for everything!

Great holiday! Fantastic 'podere' with great views and good walks. It is so rare to find a rental property that has this much style and homeliness. We loved the art and what an intersting of selection of books. Who would have thought you could learn so much about pre-war politics and Chinese Art while sipping a prosecco by the pool? Hope there's a week spare for us next year!
