The next time you are booking vacation accommodation consider using a vacation home rental instead of a traditional motel or hotel. Also known as vacation homes, these privately-owned, fully-furnished houses and condos offer many advantages over hotels, motels, and other forms of conventional accommodation. Found in abundance all around the world, vacation home rentals provide special and unique holiday experiences unavailable elsewhere.
Vacation homes come in all shapes and sizes.
They can be city houses, resort condos, townhouses, country farms, deep-woods cabins, ski resort chalets, lakeside bungalows, beach front ramblers, mountain cottages, or even luxury mansions. They can be found in the medieval hilltop towns of Tuscany, deep in the rural areas of Val d’Orcia, right in the middle of art cities like Venice, Florence and Rome, on a lush beach in Sicily.
No matter where your vacation plans take you or what you plan on doing once you get there - hiking, biking, skiing, diving, or just reading books and laying out in the sun - there are vacation rental properties ready to meet your needs.
Vacation rentals provide you with unparalleled space and privacy, which are so often lacking in the single room typically offered at a hotel or motel. With all of the amenities of your own home, like multiple bedrooms, fully-furnished living rooms, and many other comforts, vacation rentals are a great way to vacation like a local.
Thanks to the available kitchen, you can cook your own basic or gourmet meals and don’t have to eat out for every breakfast, lunch, and dinner - unless, of course, that’s what you want. Preparing meals this way can be a great way to save money, especially if you are travelling with the kids.
Radicondoli is a picturesque village, set high on the hills of the Colline Metallifere, offering breathtaking views of the valleys around - stretching as far as Volterra and S. Gimignano. It has a very strong identity and a very lively community. Many holiday rentals are available in Radicondoli, with and without swimming pool.
Throughout the year many village feasts liven up the otherwise quiet lifestyle. The village brass band is a gem. Events worth mentioning are 1 May, S. Giovanni on 23 June; the famous Drama Festival from 27 July to 12 August which attracts Italian and International artists. Booking a Radicondoli vacation rental is a fantastic way savour true Tuscan life.
Fantastic weather from May to October, May and September being the very best months to enjoy the natural setting, the sunlight and temperature. Radicondoli and Belforte are perfectly preserved Medieval villages that have kept their character and very lively community. This area is in fact one of the few still authentic and unspoilt parts of Tuscany, away from the limelight and off the beaten track. The village is very close to stunning art cities like Siena, Florence and S. Gimignano, but immersed in wild nature.
Really worth seeing in the area is the Abbey of San Galgano, with the sword in the rock, the geysers at Lardarello, the rolling hills towards Casole d'Elsa, the rivers Merse, Cecina and Farma.
SIENA
This city of Etruscan origin was built on three hills in the heart of Tuscany. Its medieval appearance has remained characterized by winding, steep, and narrow streets and enclosed within magnificent ancient walls which run 7 kilometers in length, safeguarding its culture and the treasures of its art and history.
Preserving its medieval aspect, Siena has remained one of Tuscany's most visited cities holding great artistic interest and a wealth of important monuments including Piazza del Campo, Piazza del Duomo, Palazzo Publico, and Palazzo Sansedoni. Siena is also notorious for its Palio which takes place twice a year; once on July 2nd to commemorate the miracles of the Madonna of Provenzano and again on August 16th to honor the Assumption of the Virgin.
The Palio is a traditional competition bringing back to life the colour of the past where 17 "burroughs" , dressed in medieval costumes battle for the title.
Each burrough has a name, a banner, and represents a church of its own.
Siena holiday rentals are the best places to enjoy an authentic Tuscan holiday. Vacation rentals in Siena vary from luxury town houses and apartments to charming farmhouse rentals with pool, elegant villas with swimming pool and stunning views.
Castelnuovo di Val di Cecina is a small village in the Colline Metallifere, sitting on the offshoots of the Maremma overlooking the Tirrenean sea and the Isle of Elba. Its origins date back to the Lombard period (VII c), witnessed by a number of fortresses - still standing in the area - which the Lombards built when opening new roads in search for minerals between Volterra and Massa Marittima. The area around Castelnuovo is rich in archaeological sites of the neolithic, etruscan, barbaric and medieval periods. The land is also marked by stunning millenary parish churches witnessing the rooting and spread of Christianity in the area. The landscape is characterized by gentle hills, about 500-600 metres high, except the Devil’s Yard reaching 875 mts. Besided the River Cecina, the region is crossed by the Cornia stream that springs here and by tributaries of the Cecina, the Pavone and the Possera being the most important ones. The woods are thick and the vegetation ranges from the Mediterranean scrub – pine trees, junipers, English oaks, strawberry trees – to the typical Appennine vegetation with turkey oaks, hornbeam, ashes, chestnuts. Agriturismo, farmhouse holiday rentals with swimming pool and flexible arrival date abound in this area. In this section you can find budget holiday accomodation near Pisa and Volterra.
